In a recent press release, Flux Power, the California-based supplier of battery packs for Wheego LiFe EVs, announced they have developed an upgrade kit for the 30HP electric powered Polaris Ranger side-by-side. The 48V packs are available in four capacities: 8.0, 9.6, 16.0, and 19.2KWh and include integrated BMS (battery management system), communication cables, CAN current sensor, state of charge indicator, and battery tie-down hardware. The packs are compatible with the on-board charger built into the Ranger.
Flux Power are claiming 10 year, 3000 cycle lifetime from their lithium-iron-phosphate based packs and up to three times greater range than the stock battery pack. No details about pricing or weight improvement were given. The stock 1700 lb Ranger has a top speed of 25 mph and a rated towing capacity of 1250 lb.
